Polyeurythane Turf Backing

An artificial turf surface is made by stitching synthetic grass blades— called yarn—into a backing mat. The precision that is put into the manufacture of the backing will affect the quality and performance of the field.

This comparison above shows a highly-magnified cross section of tuft binds used in Geo Safe Play fields on the left
, and that of a typical competitor on the right. The difference is clear: the competitor’s product shows large pores that allows groundwater—along with its contanimates—to penetrate the system and eat away at the coating that seals the bind. This penetration leads to severe degradation that will continually reduce the surface’s performance and decrease the lifespan of the field. For this reason, Geo Safe Play surfaces use backing with tightly sealed turf binds that are virtually impossible to penetrate.
