Turf Installation |

Innovative and Integrated Turf SystemWhether it’s a high-performance sports field, a beautiful landscape design or a children’s play area in a park, a Geo Safe Play installation is engineered with three important principles in mind: performance, player safety and the environment. To do so, each part of the system uses the most innovative technology available. To get to know how the system works, let’s get to know these parts.
|
Pile height - the size of the turf, infill and sand layers
Free pile height - non-infilled, empty space that normally should not exceed 0.75 inch
Infill - think of it as an artificial soil, only it’s made from special materials to maximize athletic performance characteristics like foot stability, ball speed and impact absorption (Gmax). It’s also designed for easy drainage and maintenance.
Sand - used to stabilize the backing mat of the turf system and improve drainage
*GeoPad (optional) - designed to absorb shock and allow easy drainage, it also decreases the amount of soil excavation (and thus the energy consumption and environmental disturbance) for a new installation
Backing mat - a thin surface into which turf yarn is stitched and sealed against UV, heat and moisture penetration
|
|
Gauge - measurement of the space between stitching of yarn
Gravel sub-base - a foundation of crushed stone
Crushed gravel top-base - finer granules of crushed gravel situated between the turf backing and sub-base that level the field surface
Drain pipe - integrated with sub-base for water
removal
Geotextile barrier - a membrane separating the natural soil elements from the gravel sub-base
Concrete curb - a border that contains the sand and infill and encloses the area of the turf surface |
